Sav-A-Life of Troy, a pro-life ministry, will host a Low Country Boil fundraiser beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Park Memorial United Methodist Church Family Life Center.

Single tickets are $25. Tickets for two are $40. Tickets are available at the Sav-A-Life office at 523 South 3 Notch Street or Synco Drugs in downtown Troy.

“Sav-A-Life of Troy only has two annual fundraisers and the Low Country Boil is the largest in that we’ll have the Low Country Boil, a silent auction and a program with two outstanding speakers,” said Jane Ward, Sav-A-Life director. “When I say, ‘Baby Jude,’ many people will already know the story of this baby.  Baby Jude’s dad, Jake Pendleton, will be one of the guest speakers. He has a very inspiring story to share.”

Ward would not reveal the name of the other guest speaker, she would only say the speaker’s presentation will be light-hearted and “we’ll laugh a lot.”

More than 300 items have been donated to the silent auction and in every category from anything to everything.

“Businesses and individuals have been very generous and we are so appreciative of their support of the silent auction,” Ward said.

“We have vacations up for bids including two beach vacations, a cabin stay in North Carolina and a vacation to Costa Rica. We have entertainment packages including the Dixie Trail Ride and Troy University baseball tickets. Artists and crafters have also donated items. We have silent auction items for almost every interest.  We encourage everyone to come early to have time to look at everything on the auction tables.”

Cash, checks and credit and debit cards will be accepted as payment for bid items.

There are two opportunities to win prizes in drawings – a Big Green Egg Grill and $500 in cash.

A donation of $10 will qualify ticket holders for the Big Green Egg drawing and $5 will get a person’s name in the pot for the big bucks.

“You do not have to be present to win in either of the drawings,” Ward said.

Tickets for the drawings are available at the Sav-A-Life office and will be available at the Low Country Boil.

Sav-A-Life in Troy has been serving the community since 1986.

In 2016, the pro-life ministry provided service to 1,200 families.

“The services Sav-A-Life provides are free and confidential,” Ward said. “The Low Country Boil goes a long way in providing these services and we greatly appreciate the support of the businesses and the people of Pike County.”
