The Charles Henderson boy’s soccer team defeated Brew Tech 2-1 on Thursday.

The win for the Trojans improves their record on the season to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

“I was very impressed with them,” said Trojan head coach Roderick Vasquez. “It was the first time that I have seen the first team really show the passing and movement that we have been looking for during a game. They put pressure on them the whole game. That was one of things that we wanted to do is change the energy level.”

The Trojans jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the game after Decklan Brooks and Logan Wilson both scored goals for the Trojans.

Brew Tech scored less then five minutes after to cut the lead down to 2-1.

“2-0 is one of the worst leads you can have,” Vasquez said. “It is such a close score and the game can turn around on a dime. They boys did a nice job of digging in and defending. They controlled the high pressure that they put on us. It was very good and organized on the players’ part.”

It was Austin Carswell’s turn in net as goalie for the Trojans. He accumulated 10 saves to help the Trojans hold on to the win.

The Trojans now enter a two-game stretch this week that will help define their season up to this point. On Tuesday they travel to play in their third conference game against Saint James before playing Northview on Thursday.

“We will play the same starting 10 and then we have Northview coming in on Thursday,” Vasquez said. “This next week is huge for us. If we can come out and beat Saint James we will go up to 2-1 in conference. If we lose we will be behind the eight ball and we will really have to perform everything perfectly from here on out.”
