Trojans get pair of wins in Big Horn Classic

The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans got of a quick start in the Big Horn Classic on Friday, defeating Park Crossing 6-2 and Stanhope Elmore 13-3.

In game one against Park Crossing, both Emma Kirkpatrick and Rose Snyder offered stellar pitching performances. Kirkpatrick pitched the first three innings of game one, giving up one hit and no runs with two strikeouts. Snyder pitched the final inning of the timed contest and allowed two runs on one hit while striking out one.

The Trojans finished with four hits in game one, led by Kirkpatrick and Kaitlyn Richardson who both went 2-2.

The Trojans scored four of their first six run in the first inning before following up with one run in the second and another in the fourth.

In game two, the offense ran the show for the Trojans. The Trojans finished with 11 hits, led by Tucker Earles, who went 3-3 with three RBIs. Sidney Armstrong also finished with three hits, while Lindsey Fox finished with two while driving in two runs.

On the mound Molly Kate Sanders allowed two earned runs on four hits while striking out two.

The Trojans scored in all four innings of game two, including six runs in the fourth.

In the first inning, the Trojans got RBI singles by both Fox and Earles, while Sanders drove in the final run when she reached base on an error. The Trojans added another run in the second and three more in the third. In the six-run sixth the Trojans picked up a two-run homerun off the bat of Kirkpatrick to score Richardson, an RBI single by Earles, There were also an error, a wild pitch and a passed ball in the inning.

The Trojans will continue play in the Big horn Classic on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
