Health Science students from Troy Pike Center for Technology are participating in the Spring Semester Internship at Troy Regional Medical Center. These students are taking knowledge learned in the classroom and translating it to real-life patient care in the hospital setting. TRMC employees have volunteered to mentor these students in various clinical areas of the hospital, and they provide unique learning experiences every day.  Students have interned on the medical-surgical nursing unit, ER, laboratory, respiratory therapy, radiology, out-patient surgery, and ICU. A total of 12 students have participated in the internship program this year. Several of these students have also chosen to take the Patient Care Technician course offered at TPCT. On completion of the course, these students may take the certification test that will allow them to work as a PCT, an area of employment needed by many hospitals in our area.
