Troy Food World is closing its doors this month after changing hands several times over the last decade.

The planned closing date for the store is February 24, although assistant manager Erica Kilpatrick said that could be extended depending on how inventory much the store sells.

The store has gone through many changes during its time in Troy, changing owners four times in the last 12 years.

The store first changed hands in 2005 to Southern Family Markets. Belle Foods bought the store in 2012, only to have to sell it the next year when the company filed for bankruptcy. HAC Inc., also known as Homeland Grocers, won the bid for the store and took over in October of 2013.

Representatives of HAC did not respond to requests for comment by publishing time.

The grocery store employs about 30 people. Kilpatrick said everything on the store will be discounted increasingly as the closing date approaches.
