“We knew we had to win or go home, so we played with confidence throughout the game,” she said.

Six Trojans got on the scoreboard, and three finished in double digits. Marori Davenport and Tatyana Siler led the way with 17, while Niaira Jones finished with 13.

On the other side of the floor, the Trojans defense held the Tigers to just 32 points, 19 from their leading scorer.

“We did an OK job (on defense),” Jones said. “I sat some of my first string out at the beginning of the fourth quarter, and we decided to play a zone.”

The Trojans jumped on the Eagles early and took a 16-2 lead into the second quarter. Jones converted on two three-pointers in the opening period.

The Trojans added 13 more points and cruised into halftime holding a 29-9 lead. The Trojans were able to use the bench in the second half on their way to a comfortable round one win.

The win sets up a rematch of two teams in Charles Henderson and Brew Tech that split their two regular season meetings. Tip off of the championship game is slated for 6 p.m.

“It’s going to be a good game,” Jones said. “My girls are mentally and physically ready.”
