Harbert Realty, the company overseeing the Park Place development confirmed several other stores will be coming soon.

Bill Ware, vice president of development, verified that Goldfingers, Marcos Pizza, Nail Boutique Spa and Petsense are all filling in some of the empty spaces on either side of the Publix anchor, which opens today. The new retailers and restaurants are on pace to open soon, he said.

“I think Marcos and Goldfingers are actually building out their spaces now and the Nail Boutique Spa will be coming in sometime in February and Petsense will do the same,” Ware said.

Goldfingers is a restaurant that specializes in chicken and wings. It was founded in Dothan and just recently began branching out to other Alabama locations.

Marco’s Pizza is a national pizza chain and Petsense is a pet goods store that sells food, bedding and toys for pets.

Ware said that Harbert is also in talks with other prospective tenants for the remaining four spaces attached to the Publix building and is also talking to several potential business for the outparcel of land behind Panda Express.

Ware credited the growing market in Troy, and Publix’s faith in it, for creating a high level of interest in the development.

“The interest is high for a lot of retailers, not only because the City of Troy has become a growing and more dynamic market, but Publix coming in validates the market for a lot of retailers,” Ware said.

The Park Place development broke ground in December of 2014 and opened its first store, Panda Express, in December. Popeye’s Chicken was already in place before the project began, but is also a part of the development.

A map of the property on Harbert’s site shows a 2.52 acre outparcel for sale as well behind Publix.

Once Harbert finishes filling its spaces in the current development, they could exercise their option on the land on the south side of the George Wallace Extension.

The City and Harbert made an agreement that Harbert will pay the city’s expenses for developing the land when they exercise the option. The property map from Harbert shows a proposed junior anchor, multifamily center with two larger spaces on each side and five of the smaller stores in between.

Publix has a ribbon cutting at 7:45 this morning and will open directly afterwards.
