The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans dropped their final area game of the year 44-42 against Brew Tech on Thursday.

The Trojans end area play with a 3-1 record and with the loss the Trojans are forced to share the area championship with the Rams.

Turnovers proved to be the downfall, according to head coach Dyneshia Jones.

“It was turnovers once again,” Jones said. “We had a lot of mental mistakes. We had a lot of unforced turnovers when we threw the ball in. They were playing good defense, but the defense is what hurt us in the end.”

The Trojans had three players score in double figures led by Tatyana Siler who finished with a team high 16 points. Maori Davenport had 10 and Niaira Jones had seven.

The Trojans played a tight first half against the Rams. They went into the second quarter trailing 14-10 and went into the locker room at halftime trailing by just one point at 23-22.

In the fourth quarter the turnover bug bit the Trojans once again. After being up by seven, the Trojans managed to score just four points and a late turnover led to two Ram free throws in the game’s final seconds.

With the loss the Trojans fall to 19-5 on the season.

The boys also fell to the Rams on Thursday night 72-60. Josh Roberts led they way by picking up a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Keonta Brantley and Jalen Tuck each scored 14 points.

The Trojans will be back in action on Saturday when they host rival Pike County beginning with the girls at 5:30 p.m.
