The city council voted unanimously on Tuesday to add $775,000 in unexpected revenue to the 2017 budget.

During the last few council meetings, the council voted to note an additional $775,000 in expenses that had not yet been noted for reimbursement.

Mayor Jason Reeves explained that the money is coming back into the capital improvements fund and the council needed to vote to add it to the budget so it can be spent if needed.

“This means we won’t have to go back individually every time and add money to the budget,” Reeves said. “The money is there, it just was not accounted for in the budget.

The increase in revenue will bring the city’s total budget up to approximately $71.5 million for the year.

Reeves said that the capital improvements that any of the money is spent on would be decided on a “case-by-case basis.”

Frank Thomas, who has been developing land for commercial use near the option land was on the agenda to speak with the council, but did not show up for the council meeting.

At the last council meeting, Thomas brought forward a list of requests to the city for documents and updates on things relating to Enzor Road Connector Project that he said were required in the agreement between him, Walt Stell and the City.

The council went into executive session during their executive committee meeting to discuss the matter.

Reeves also announced that both the Pike Animal Shelter and the third fire station should open within the next 30 days.

District 1 Councilman Robert Jones reminded his constiuents that it’s special cleanup month for the district and District 5 Councilwoman Wanda Moultry announced she will hold a meeting for residents on January26 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.

The next meeting of the council will be held on January 24 with a work session at 4 p.m. upstairs and the regular meeting at 5 p.m.
