Charles Henderson senior softball player Lindsey Fox committed to Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Andalusia beginning in the fall.

Fox has been playing softball for the Trojans since the seventh grade and the moment Fox received the offer from Saints head coach Tiffany Taylor it was a dream come true.

“I was so excited whenever she called,” Fox said. “When I first met her, I could picture myself playing for her. When she called and asked me, I was so excited because it just felt right.”

All the hard work, included working and practicing, is engrained into Fox’s attitude on a daily basis. Her committing to be a Saint made all the hard work worth it for the senior.

“It felt good to know that it’s all going to pay off,” Fox said. “It also gives me more motivation to finish off my senior year in the weight room and on the field. It gives me more confidence on the field and off.”

There were many factors that went into Fox’s decision to become Saint. On the top of the list was the connection and the relationship she has already built with coach Taylor.

“I think she will give me real world experience,” Fox said. “She is really honest and at the same time a good friend. She seems like someone I can go to for personal reasons and on the field reasons. I feel like she is going to be a good coach and a good friend after.”

The small intimate atmosphere around the campus and in the classrooms was also a major plus when it came to Fox making her decision.

“It’s kind of small, but it’s big enough to where I can get a college experience and I get to live in the dorms and they are really nice,” Fox said. “It’s also like high school where If I have a question with my professor, I can go up and ask him and not email him because he has 100 students.”

The process of Fox getting an offer was an experience she didn’t expect. The process has humbled Fox and its something that she won’t take for granted.

“I knew that I had the potential for it, but there are so many other players out there,” Fox said. “I just didn’t know that I was going to get called. So her calling made all my hard work pay off.”

With one more season to play as a Trojan, Fox hopes to become more of a leader for her teammates.

“I want to be a leader and be someone that the girls younger can remember and look up to,” Fox said. “Becca Hartley was one of the main reasons I am where I am. She always helped me and was a great leader.”

Fox will make it official when she signs her scholarship on January 12 at 9:30 in the CHHS Media Center.
