MIZELL, Eric D., age 46, passed away early Tuesday, October 4, 2016. Funeral services will be held at Park Memorial United Methodist Church on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Danny Arnold officiating. There will be a 1-hour lie in state prior to the service. Internment will be at Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Troy. Visitation will be held at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

Eric is survived by his wife, Tiffaney Bozeman Mizell; 4 children: Kassidy Howell, Kaylee Bozeman, Beaux Rastus and Bryson Butler; Parents, Keith and Clara Mizell of Lucedale, MS; 2 brothers: Greg Mizell (Lisa) of Lucedale, MS and Mark Mizell (Rita) of Lucedale, MS; 1 sister, Marsha Mizell Marshall (Buddy); Mother-in-law, Charlotte Jeannine Bozeman of Montgomery, AL; Sister-in-law, Darlene Lee of China Grove, Al ; Sister-in-law, Chandylene Archer (Mike) of Wetumpka, Al; Nephews: Matt Mizell (Misty), Tyler Mizell (Lauren), Isaac Marshall, Keenan Archer and Dustin Lee; Nieces: Laken Mizell and Genelynn Lee; Great Nephews: Cooper Keel and Rhett Mizell.

Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harmon & Maudie Howell and Clifton & Ossie Belle Howell; Father-in-law, Luther Eugene Bozeman and Brother-in-law Luther Eugene “Bo” Bozeman, Jr.

Eric had several great loves in his life. First and foremost, his wife Tiffaney, followed closely by his children, Kassidy, Kaylee, Beaux and Bryson. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with those he treasured. Eric also loved his friends, many of whom he had for years – lifelong friends. The time he spent with friends tailgating, coaching his children in various sports and just relaxing and talking were so special to him.

Another of Eric’s great loves was Troy University. Originally from Lucedale, Mississippi, Eric came to TROY to play football. He played offensive line in 1990 and 1991, and graduated with a business degree in 1993. He moved back to Troy to take a job as wealth manager at Henderson Wealth Management at Troy Bank & Trust in 2001. One of the perks of Eric’s job with TB&T was that he had accounts in Mississippi. He traveled to his home state once a week to meet with his business contacts and to have a home-cooked meal with his mom, dad and other family members.

Eric’s love for Troy University continued after he graduated, and he made a point of giving back to the school that had given so much to him. He was a lifetime member of the Troy National Alumni Association, a founder of the Letterman T Club, a member of the Alumni Board and Warrior Council and an avid tailgater and TROY football supporter.

Eric also gave back to the city that he loved and called home. He was also a member of the Troy City Schools Education Foundation Board, was a volunteer coach at the Troy Parks and Recreation Department and helped start a flag football league at the TPRD. Eric loved history and volunteered to be the secretary of the West College Street Historical Association.

We often hear people talk about “the good guys”. Our friend Eric should always be included in that group.
