John Halbert Wilkerson II

John Halbert Wilkerson II, 74, a former resident of Troy, died Saturday, July 30, 2016.  He was born November 13, 1941 in Talledega, Alabama to Thomas and Anna Marshall Wilkerson and grew up in Troy, graduating from Troy University. John was a veteran, and served his country by playing French Horn in the Navy band. He was a consummate musician, with an operatic voice enjoyed by all at church and in performances. He shared his love and knowledge of music in the classroom and on stage. He is survived by his daughter Emily Wilkerson Meyer (Jeff) of Aspen, CO; sisters, Anna Marshall Kress of Atlanta, GA and Antoinette Watts of Athens, GA; brother, Thomas Wilkerson, Jr. (Janet); of Inverness, AL and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 11:00 am at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy. Memorial donations may be made to the Lupus Foundation or your favorite charity.
