Pet Photo Contest Deadline Nearing

The clock is ticking toward the 5 p.m. Wednesday deadline to enter the 2017 Pet Photo Contest sponsored by the Humane Society of Pike County.

As an added incentive to get those entries in before the clock strikes “midnight,” Donna Brockmann, society president, said the 66th entry in the contest will win a gift certificate from Milky’s Moos on the square in Troy.

“We have 66 designated photo spaces on the Pet Photo Calendar – the cover shot, 13 monthly photo and 52 weekly photos,” Brockmann said. “We thought it would be fun to encourage all pet owners to get your kicks! Who’s gonna be 66?”

This year’s Pet Photo Contest is earlier than usual so that the 2017 Pet Photo Calendars can be available for the Peanut Butter Festival in Brundidge the last Saturday in October.

“The winner of our 2017 Pet Photo Contest will be an honored entry in the festival’s Nutter Butter Parade and at other events throughout the year,” Brockmann said. “Of course all of the calendar winners will be celebrities throughout the year. We are excited about this year’s Pet Photo Calendar. We have a wide variety of pets entered and we don’t want any pets to be left out.”

It’s simple to enter a pet. The entry fee is $10 and all that is needed is an 10×10 color photo of the pet, pet’s name, the owner’s name, address and telephone number. Entries may be mail to Humane Society of Pike County, P.O. Box 296, Troy AL 36081 and postmarked by 5 p.m. Wednesday, August 10.

Entries may also be dropped off at The Little Framery, Troy Antiques and Guynn’s Income Tax and Bookkeeping in Troy or Jinright’s Hillside Antiques on Highway 231 South of Troy. For more information, visit the Humane Society of Pike County’s website.
