Despite the chill in the air Ronnie Adams and Mark Alderman were determined to finish their construction project Saturday in Adams’ backyard.

Adams, who lives on Green Drive in Troy, was building a privacy fence to contain his Great Pyrenees-Pit bull mix puppy, Rocky.

“We’re having to build it for him to keep him from roaming,” Adams said. “Dogs can be expensive.”

Adams and Alderman are coworkers at KW Plastics. Adams works as a security guard while Alderman works in maintenance.

The building process began on Friday as the pair set up the posts, and they continued the project the next day. Although they would have liked to complete the fence Saturday, they lacked some of the necessary supplies needed, so they plan to finish within the week.

The men said their biggest challenge on Saturday was simply trying to stay warm while working outside in the cold. When they started that morning, the wooden boards had frozen together.

And, while Adams does not have much experience in construction, Alderman does some construction projects on the side. So, for Alderman, building a fence was not a new challenge.

“Luckily I had a good friend that knew what he was doing,” Adams said.
