Sylacauga, AL – Coach James “Jimmy” Wright passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 3:19 PM at Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga, AL after a long battle with metastatic melanoma.   Memorial services will be held on Sunday, October 19 at 3:00 PM in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church of Sylacauga with a reception following the service.  Coach Wright taught and coached in Alabama for Talladega County Schools, Sylacauga City Schools, Coosa County Schools, and in Florida for Brevard County Schools during his career as a softball, basketball, and football coach and a physical education and history teacher.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Tankersley Wright; his daughter, Mary Emmaline Wright; his son, James Tankersley Wright; his parents, James Houston and Faye Wright of Troy, AL; and his siblings, April Floyd, Janis Taylor, Lanette Walden, and Joey Wright.

Honorary pallbearers will be Shannon Powell, Doug Branson, John Tankersley, Vince Worbington, Richard Bowen and Jason Arnold.

Coach Wright will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and the hundreds of students he impacted during his long career.
