GHS principal resigns

The Pike County Board of Education accepted the resignation of two staff members at their called meeting on August 4.

The board accepted the resignation of Dr. Warren Weeks, who was principal at Goshen High School.

Weeks had served Goshen High for four years and had one year left on his contract when he resigned.

Pike County Superintendent Mark Bazzell said Weeks has accepted a position as principal in Randolph county with another school system.

The principal position at Goshen High will be advertised beginning today and will run for 14 days. Bazzell said they hope to have someone in the position by September.

“I’m confident the assistant principal and staff will be able to keep things going and hold down the fort,” Bazzell said. “I hope to fill the position by September, but we are not going to rush.”

The board also approved the resignation of Mahalea Gillo, a 2nd grade teacher at Pike County Elementary School, who it taking up a position at another school system.
