Two people were injured Monday morning when a Honda Odyssey minivan hit a deer on Elba Highway near the Southeast Alabama Rural Health Association. The incident happened at around 8 a.m.
Simon Sanders and Derrick Roberts did not witness the collision, but heard it and were first at the scene.
“It was an eight-point deer,” Sanders said.
Roberts said the passenger sustained the worst of the injuries. She hit the windshield.
“The driver was worried more about her daughter than about herself. She said her neck hurt a little and I told her she needed to get that checked out,” Roberts said.
The Alabama Highway Patrol is investigating the collision. Names of the victims have not been released.
