A Troy University employee reported a stranger tried to open her vehicle’s passenger door while she was stopped at the corner of University Avenue and Park Street Friday at around 8:15 a.m.

The door was locked and the suspect did not get into the vehicle, said Troy University Police Chief John McCall. He said the incident did not appear to be a robbery. The man did not threaten the driver or use any force.

“We just don’t know what his intentions were,” he said.

McCall issued a warning to staff and students after the incident.

“Keep doors locked and be visually aware of what’s going on around you,” he said.
