BOE makes personnel changes

The Pike County Board of Education approved the non-renewal of 20 positions throughout the school system at a board meeting on Monday night.

Names were withheld until personnel could be notified.

At Goshen Elementary School, academic coach Vivian Palmer, third-grade teacher Ashley Kilpatrick, sixth-grade teacher Cody Carnley, Indian education teacher Brandie DeSandro and physical education aide Willie Jones were not renewed for 2012-2013.

Thomas Holcomb, Carrie Ramos and Timothy Gafford – all math teachers – were not renewed at Goshen High School. Also at GHS, graduation coach Selesta Tucker wasn’t renewed.

Henry Everett, who teaches music, was not renewed at Banks School.

At Pike County Elementary School, fourth-grade teacher Brianne Kent, kindergarten teacher Kristina Anderson, fourth-grade teacher Rachel Everett, first-grade teacher Katie Kelley and physical education aide Bazelais Louissaint were not renewed.

History teacher James Gilmore, science teacher William Norris, PE teacher Clinnette Moon, health and PE instructor Donnie Smith and special education aide Lashaunda Stallworth were not renewed at Pike County High School.

While some positions will dissolve, Superintendent Dr. Mark Bazzell said he hopes to re-employ most positions by June 11 after considering enrollment and positions made vacant through retirement.
