Goshen opened the Class 2A AHSAA South Central Regional tournament at the Troy Sportsplex with a 8-1 win over Thorsby on Friday.

Goshen jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.

Haley Hughes led off the game with a walk before Sam Roy double to left field.

With runners on second and third, a Thorsby fielding error allowed Racheal Senn to reach to load the bases. Shelby Vinson would draw a walk on four pitches to force in teh first run. Allison Warrick would strike the first pitch she saw for a single a plate two more runs.

Warrick was also solid in the circle for Goshen pitching four inning. Warrick would allow one run on three hits while striking out five.

The Eagles would extend their lead to 5-0 after another Thorsby error plated Allison and Fran Warrick.

Thorsby would score its lone run in the fourth on consecutive double from Josie Adams and Kelly Nord.

Goshen defeated Horseshoe Bend in the night cap, 10-9. The Eagles will play today at 9:30a.m.
