Dixie Boys season opens as Dodgers defeat Rangers in final inning

Troy Parks and Recreation Dixie Boys opened its season on Monday with a pair of games.

Dodgers 4, Rangers 3

Trent Orum scored on a wild pitch in the fifth inning to hand the Dodgers a 4-3 victory over the Rangers.

Trailing 3-2 heading into the final inning (due to time limits), JP Steele reached base and scored the tying run. Orum, who reached following Steele, scored the game-winner two batters later.

Drew Starling walked in the first inning and scored when Coleby Roberts grounded in to a fielder’s choice.

The Rangers would tie the game in the second when Jackson Murphy led off the inning with a double and would later score on a wild pitch.

Murphy Renfore singled, quickly took second and third, then scored on Morgan Hutchinson’s fielder’s choice.

Kobe Griffin and Jerrell Lawson each reached base and scored fro the Rangers before the Dodgers made their comeback in the fifth.

Mets 11, Diamondbacks 0 (4th)

In the nightcap, the Mets were leading the Diamondbacks 11-0 at press time.

For the Mets, Nick Lewis was 2-for-3 with a three-run home run in the third. Bryson Gandy was 2-for-3 while Cole Wilson, Tyler Hussey, Conner Adler, and Cade Curtis all had hits.

Wilson also had a stellar performance on the mound striking out nine batters in four innings of work.

Jack Labrant doubled in the first inning for the Diamonbacks but was stranded. Eric Lee and Morgan Sulllivant also had hits.
