After the Igudesman and Joo concert at the Claudia Crosby Theater on the campus of Troy University Thursday night, the dynamic duo will perform at world famous Carneigie Hall.

John Jinright, presenter chair for the sponsoring Troy Arts Council, said Igudesman and Joo will sell out Carneigie Hall and the Troy Arts Council is extremely proud and excited to bring them to Troy.

“Igudesman and Joo have taken the world by storm with their unique and hilarious theatrical shows, which combine comedy with classical music and popular culture,” Jinright said. “They are huge in Europe and they are just coming to the United States. We are fortunate to have them here.

“Igudesman and Joo are incredible musicians and so funny. They really care about making the audience laugh and they play classical music that makes you smile. An Igudesman and Joo concert is much like ‘Monty Python Meets Mozart.’”

To date, the duo’s clips on YouTube have gathered more than 28 million hits and they have appeared on television in numerous countries.

“Igudesman and Joo are as comfortable performing in stadiums in front of 18,000 people as they are in classical concert halls,” Jinright said. “Their dream is to make classical music accessible to a wider and younger audience.”

Jinright said people of all ages will enjoy Igudesman and Joo.

“Even those who think they don’t like classical music will enjoy this duo,” he said. “Young children will laugh at their Three Stooges kind of comedy. It’s physical comedy – slap-stick at times. You don’t need a musical education to appreciate Igudesman and Joo.”

Jinright said that Igudesman and Joo want to introduce classical music to a new generation and show them how much fun it is.

“Everyone will get a kick out of Igudesman and Joo,” he said.

“They dance and sing. They do comedy sketches of different composers. It’s a very entertaining concert.”

The Igudesman and Joo concert will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Claudia Crosby Theater. Admission is $20 for adults and $5 for students with an ID. Tickets will be available at the door.
