2012 Troy football schedule released

Troy fans have grown accustomed to traveling to face a grueling non-conference schedule early in the season. 2012 will be a little different.

The Trojans host two high-profile programs in Mississippi State (Sept. 15) and Navy (Nov. 10 ).

Troy will also renew its rivalry with UAB in Birmingham to open the season on Sept. 1. The Trojans will open Sun Belt play in Week 2 with Louisiana-Lafayette coming to Troy. The final two weeks of September feature two road games versus North Texas (Sept. 22) and league newcomer South Alabama (Sept. 29).

Louisiana-Monroe will not appear on the schedule to make room for South Alabama but will reappear in 2013.

Troy’s game with Western Kentucky will be televised on ESPN U on Oct 11. After a match with Florida International (Oct. 20), the Trojans will travel to Florida Atlantic (Oct. 27) and Tennessee (Nov. 3).

Troy will play its home finale against Arkansas State (Nov. 17) before ending the regular season on the road versus Middle Tennessee State on Nov. 24 in the Battle for the Palladium. It will be only the third time that the rivalry game will be played to conclude the season.
