God’s Way Baptist Church in Troy will host a community wide illusion show at 7 p.m. Wednesday and the public is invited.

At this show, David Corn, illusionist and youth speaker, will be doing some small tricks and some large tricks such as sawing through someone’s stomach, chaining someone up from head to toe and escaping like Houdini and performing the famous Metamorphosis illusion.

“David Corn is a dynamic youth speaker and captures the attention of his audience with illusions,” said the Rev. Chad Teal, church pastor. “But his shows appeal to all ages. He has a message for everyone.”

Corn has been based at God’s Way this week and has been a blessing, Teal said.

“When David goes into a community, he likes to perform at schools. He performed at three area schools and his show and his message were well received.

“He uses illusions to capture the interest and gain the respect of the audience. About two-thirds through his show, he will stop and talk with the students about character issues, such as bullying, respect, excellence and initiative. His show encourages kids to strengthen their character.”

Teal said Corn is a professional illusionist, who focuses on youth and the issues before them.

“Friday, we performed illusions at Goshen High School and spoke against bullying,” Corn said. “Monday morning, we performed illusions at Zion Chapel Elementary and spoke on respect. Monday afternoon, we were at Goshen Elementary School and performed illusions and spoke on motivation and doing your best.”

The culmination of these events is the big show Wednesday night at God’s Way Baptist Church.

“On Wednesday night, David Corn will use scriptures and his focus will be on what is eternal rather than what is temporal,” Teal said. “Along with the show, Corn will challenge his audience to consider the truths of God’s Word and apply them to their lives.”

Corn has traveled around the country, performing in churches and in public schools. He has performed more than 25 shows in eights states and the Bahamas.

The illusion show is free but seating is limited.
