Registration opens for Miss Brundidge pageant

The Brundidge Business Association is accepting applications for the 2012 Miss Brundidge and Little Miss Brundidge Pageant to be held on March10 at the Pike County Elementary School gymnasium.

The title winners of Miss Brundidge and Little Miss Brundidge will represent the city at the annual Miss Peanut Festival Pageant in Dothan in the fall.

“To compete for the title of Miss Brundidge, contestants must be between the ages of 17 and 21 on the day of the National Peanut Butter Festival and will be judged on interview, verbal communication, appearance and poise,” said Jane Thrash, pageant director. “Miss Brundidge contestants will wear evening gowns. The winner will receive $500 when she is crowned and another $500 at the end of her reign.”

Little Miss Brundidge contestants must be entering the second grade in the school year 2012-2013. They will be judged on interview, beauty, poise and overall appearance. The attire for Little Miss Brundidge will be Sunday clothing. The winner will receive $300 cash.

“Miss Brundidge interviews will be held at 3 p.m. at the gym the day of the pageant,” Thrash said. “Little Miss Brundidge interviews will begin at 4 p.m. also on March 10.”

“Contestants for Teen Miss Brundidge must be between the ages of 14 and 16 and will be judged on beauty, poise and overall appeal,” Thrash said. “There will be no interview and the contestants will wear evening gowns. Teen Miss Brundidge will receive a $100 savings bond.”

Petite Miss Brundidge contestants must be ages five to seven and not in the second grade in the school year 2012-2013.

Young Miss Brundidge contestants must be between the ages of eight and 10 and Junior Miss Brundidge contestants must be ages 11-13.

“Contestants in the Petite, Young and Junior Miss Brundidge divisions of the pageant will be judged on beauty, poise and overall appeal,” Thrash said. “Winners will receive a $100 savings bond.

“Of course, the winners in each division of the pageant will receive the traditional crown, banner and trophy. The first, second and third alternates will receive a trophy.”

Mandatory practice will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 8 at the PCES gym.

The entry fee for all divisions of the Miss Brundidge/Little Miss Brundidge Pageant is $75.
