Margaret Brooks
Margaret Brooks, age 88, of Troy, died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at her home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Rev. Danny Arnold and Rev. Jerry Wilkes officiating. Burial followed in Green Hills Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Phenix Brooks, and son, Crandall Wilkes. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Raymond Messick and Jill and Bob Maddox; sons and daughters-in-law, Calvin and Jeanette Wilks and Peter and Mary Wilkes; six grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren; her sisters, Judy Reynolds and Elizabeth Kelly; her brothers, Melton (Runell) Flowers and Roland (Edna) Flowers; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Park Memorial United Methodist Church.
Gene Truitt Turner
Gene Truitt Turner, age 49, of Banks, died Tuesday, February 1, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. from the Enon Baptist Church with Rev. Mack Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation will be held Friday, February 3, 2012 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy. There will be a 1 hour lie-in-state at the church prior to the service.
Mr. Turner is survived by his wife, Kathy Turner; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Adam and Carrie Turner of Banks and Joel Turner of Banks; a grandson, Mason Clint Turner of Banks; his mother, Ruby Turner of Troy; a sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Durwood Baxley of Banks; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Carolyn Turner of Troy and J.C. and Leona Turner of Troy.
Active pallbearers will be Greg Turner, Jonathan Turner, Jason Turner, Michael Benton, Darrell Sanders, David Sanders, Kevin Phillips, Michael Key and Henry Wentland. The deacons of Enon Baptist Church will be honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the Gideons, the Enon Cemetery Fund or the Ebenezer Cemetery Fund.
