Police make arrest in 2009 rape

Troy Police have made an arrest in a 2009 rape case.

Darnell Patterson, 39, has been charged with first-degree rape and is being held in the Pike County Jail on a $10,000 bond for his crime in Troy. He is also being held on charges out of Indiana.

According to the Troy Police Department, Patterson and his victim were acquaintances when the rape happened early in the morning on April 29, 2009 on Washington Street in Troy.

Police were advised that Patterson purchased a bus ticket and left for New York the same day. Investigators obtained a warrant for Patterson’s arrest on April 29 and he was entered into the National Crime Information Center computer.

Troy Police learned that Patterson was arrested and being held at the New York City Department of Corrections on felony charges. His information was still active in the NICIC computer with a nationwide extradition notice. He was also wanted for felony crimes in Indiana and Montgomery.

Troy Police picked up Patterson at the Montgomery County Jail on Monday and he was transported without incident.
