Alex Harris
Alex Harris, age 70, a resident of Troy, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012.  A memorial service will be held Monday, January 23, 2012, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with the Rev. Perry Green officiating.  Visitation will be held Monday, January 23, 2012, 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Harris served in the United States Navy on the USS Yorktown, the USS Yellowstone, and the USS Saratoga during his tour of duty.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Harris DeGaris and her husband Annesley; a brother, Robert Arthur Harris, Jr; a sister, Gail Harris Johnson; and three grandchildren, John Annesley DeGaris III, Isabella Loring DeGaris and Eva Margaux DeGaris.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert A. Harris, Jr., Harold Hatchett, Ronnie Johnson, Richard Jordan, Sim Byrd, Nick Cervera, and Kenny Campbell.
The family has requested that instead of flowers, memorials be made to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes, P.O. Box 361767, Birmingham, Alabama 35236.
