James “Grady”Motes

James “Grady” Motes, age 86, of Troy, died Sunday, January 15, 2012 at his home.          Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Rev. Wayne Locklar officiating.  Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Motes is survived by his wife, Mary Rushing Motes; a daughter and son-in-law, Carla M. and David Huie; and a son and daughter-in-law, Robert “Dugan” and Jana Motes; three sisters, Hilda M. Fannin, Jean M. (Bill) Allen, and Jo Ann Motes; his grandchildren; Melanie M. (Wes) Garner, Lauran (Frankie) Lott, Kimberly (Terry) Garrett, Karri (Kevin) Booth, Julianne (Joey) Darnell, Josh (Kristina) Langston, and Sawyer Langston; his great grandchildren, Sydni, Molly, and Reece Garrett, Jackson and Allie Booth, Wesley and Preston Garner, Will and Lee Lott, and Grant Langston; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter A. and Carrie J. Motes; two sisters, Ruth M. Piha and Mildred Louise Gregory; and his brothers, Walter Pugh Motes and Emory Motes.

Active pallbearers will be Josh Langston, Sawyer Langston, Wes Garner, Frankie Lott, Terry Garrett, Kevin Booth, John Mack Rushing, and Steve Barron.  Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Mitchell, Max Davis, Jim Mueller, Jimmy Mueller, Jason Rushing, Randy Rushing, Edgar Fannin, Jimmy Copeland, Jon Adams, Larry E. Graddy, and his coworkers at Southeast Alabama Electric Cooperative.
