Max H. Parker

Max R. Parker, age 74, of Abbeville and formerly of Springhill, Alabama died Tuesday, October 18, 2011 in Flowers Hospital in Dothan. The funeral service will be held Friday, October 21, 2011 at 2 p.m. from the St. John Baptist Church in Brundidge, Alabama with Reverend Larry Sowell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge directing. Visitation will be at the old family home place, 265 County Road 2296, in Springhill, Alabama on Thursday after 5 p.m. He will also lie-in-state one hour prior to the service at the church. He is survived by his wife, Christine Parker of Abbeville; four daughters, Maxine Cox of New Hope, Rachel Grantham of Brundidge, Linda Parker of Troy, and Brenda (Terry) Dease of Springhill; a son, Randy Parker of Abbeville; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Henderson of Banks. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Parker; son, Danny Ray Parker; parents, J.B. and Clara Parker; two sisters, Addie Mae Gulledge and Doris Clayton; and two brothers, J.W. and Bobby Parker.
