Horace Spivey

Horace E. “Gene” Spivey of Troy passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011 at his residence. He was 67. Funeral services for Horace E. “Gene” Spivey will be held Friday, October 14, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Rev. Wayne Locklar officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation for Gene Spivey will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Skeen Funeral Home in Troy. The family will also receive friends Friday from 12:00 until 1 p.m. at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Horace E. “Gene” Spivey was born October 9, 1944 in Troy, AL, son of Horace Spivey and Gladys Brooks Spivey. Survivors include his wife: Paige Bulger Spivey, Troy; mother: Gladys Brooks Spivey, Troy; 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Tracy (Robin) Snyder and Terri (Mark) Adams, all of Troy; 7 grandchildren: Anna, Andrew and Gage Adams, Rose, Braden, Briann and Parks Snyder all of Troy; brother and sister-in-law; Jerry and Sandra Spivey, Troy; several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearer will be Thomas Walker, Calvin Lott, Daniel Sanders, Tommy Collins, Bart Snyder, Larry Gardner, Joseph Spivey and Butch Bryan. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be employees and retired employees of the 7th Division of the Alabama Department of Transportation, Horace Killingsworth, Anthony Adcock, Danny Ray, Stan Baxter, Perry Green and Jimmy Newman. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Good Hope Baptist Church or to Bush Memorial Baptist Church.
