Billy Scott

Billy Herbert Scott (Captain USMC Retired) age 79 of Enterprise was called to heaven Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at his home.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 17, 2011 at 1:00 pm from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Reverend Rick Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 16, 2011 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

Mr. Scott retired with 30 years of active and reserve service in the United States Marine Corps, he also spent 16 years with the State of Alabama as a sales and use tax auditor. He was a 33 degree Scottish Rite Mason and was instrumental in the installation of the dyslexia program in Alabama classrooms. He was a loving husband, father and paw paw.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Jean Bruce Scott of Enterprise, a daughter and son-in-law Suvaughn Scott and Bobby Hice of Ozark, son and daughter-in-law Herbert Glenn and Carrie Michelle Scott of Littleton, CO., his grandchildren Chloe Michelle Scott, Aaron Bruce Scott, Curtis Glenn Scott, Alexander Scott Hice, and Joshua Kyle Hice, sisters Barbara Jo Ramey, Phoebie Dawn Wilson, and Betty Sue Gulledge, a Sister-in-law Bessie Ann Bruce, loving and devoted cat Crybaby, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Willie Ellen and Raymond Gagnon, and a grandson Issac Lee Hice.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Scottish Rite Masons, Dr. Alan Young, Jimmy and Eleise Floyd and Skip Bremerman.

In lieu of Flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Scottish Rite Foundation Dyslexia Program, 2081 Alton Road, Birmingham, AL 35210.
