CHHS (4-3 Overall, 4-1 Region) at Carroll (2-5, 2-3)

Despite an emotional season due to the loss of offensive lineman Ronnell Moore and defensive coordinator Tyrone Black, the Trojans have all but locked up a playoff spot. A win over Carroll would ensure their place in the postseason.

CHHS is 24-14 all-time against the Eagles including a 28-7 victory last season. Expect more of the same from a determined Trojan team this week.

Highland Home (5-2, 3-2) at Goshen (5-2, 4-1)

In arguably the best all around matchup in the area in week eight, Goshen will need to bring their “A” game to knock off a scrappy Flying Squadron team.

Both teams have fallen to Elba this season and both have played close contests against Samson and New Brockton.

Zion Chapel (5-2, 3-2) at Red Level (1-6, 1-4)

Zion Chapel should have little trouble with Red Level but have to avoid a let down one week before a huge matchup with Goshen.

The winner of Goshen-Zion Chapel will almost assuredly lock up a first round home playoff game.

Glenwood (5-3, 2-3) at Pike Liberal Arts (4-3, 1-3)

Pike Liberal Arts must win to keep their playoff hopes alive and even then are not guaranteed a spot.

The Patriots are 13-12 all-time against the Gators but Glenwood is scoring points in bunchs.

The Gators are averaging 43 points per contest and their only road loss this season came at the hands of the region’s top team, Lee-Scott.

Luverne (4-3, 3-2) at Pike County (0-7, 0-5)

Pike County continues to play for their first win.

Offensive production has been the bugaboo for the Bulldogs this season.

Thus far, Pike County is averaging just over seven points per game (53 total), good enough for fourth worst among the state’s 64 3A schools.
