Another week of high school action is in the books and another edition of The Messenger’s Power Rankings are out.

The standings saw a bit of shuffling from a week ago as area teams battle for region positioning.

Both Goshen and Charles Henderson will celebrate homecoming this week and Pike Liberal Arts faces a do-or-die game with Ft. Dale.

These rankings do not reflect whether one team is better than another in a head-to-head matchup. They only show our opinion of how well each team is playing in comparison to others in the area. So here they are:

1. Zion Chapel (5-1 Overall, 3-1 Region)

Zion Chapel can prove their legitimacy this week as they face 6-0 Elba on the road.

The Rebels are currently tied with Goshen for second in the region with both looking up at Elba

2. CHHS (3-3, 3-1)

Charles Henderson reclaims the second slot with a convincing 47-14 win over Russell County.

Trojan nation saw the true potential of this year’s team as the offensive produced both on the ground and through the air.

Rehobeth shouldn’t be much of a match for CHHS but the Rebels have won two straight.

3. Goshen (4-2, 3-1)

The Eagles struggled against a winless Calhoun squad last week but did pull out a 9-0 victory.

Goshen will take on Samson, who is the only team to defeat Zion Chapel, this week.

Running back Reginald Foster left last week’s game with a shoulder injury but should be back for four quarters of action this week.

4. PLAS (4-2, 1-2)

The Patriots are in a make or break situation as they travel to Greenville to take on region rival Ft. Dale.

The Eagles have had a history of spoiling season at Pike. In 2009, Ft. Dale was the only team to top the Patriots although PLAS did go on to take the AISA state title.

5. Pike County (0-6, 0-4)

The Bulldogs travel to Daleville still in search of their first win. If PCHS can slow down the Warhawks run game, an upset could be possible.
