Margaret Dunn Mills, born November 8, 1914, died Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Nolan Long Term Care in Montgomery.

Mrs. Mills graduated from Brundidge High School and received her teaching certificate from Troy State Teachers College and then taught at Rural Home Elementary School for two years. She was married to Lamar Mills for 67 Years until his death in 2008. She was an active member of Rural Home Demonstration Club, serving several times as president of the club. She was active in Goshen School PTA and served as president of the PTA. She was a member of the Goshen Quilting Club and an avid gardener.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Rev W.O. Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Wingard Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2011 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lamar Mills; father, Andrew Jackson Dunn; mother, Ida Pittman Dunn; brothers, Gus Dunn, Bill Dunn, Gardner Dunn; and a sister, Evelyn Harvill. Survivors include her children, Judy Mills of Birmingham, Jenny (David) Winsor of Lake Martin, Jack (Gina) Mills of Akron, Tom (Sharon) Mills of Shreveport, La., Joseph R. “Butch” Mills of Akron, and Keith (Andrea) Mills of Mobile; grandchildren, Thomas (Mary) Mills of Irving, Tx., Brittany Mills of Shreveport. La., Andrew Mills of New Orleans, La., Nick Mills of Tuscaloosa, Lena Mills of Moundville, Dylan Mills of Mobile, Kyle Grace Mills of Mobile; sisters, Sally Reeves and June Spivey; brother, Dewey Dunn; special caregivers, Janetta Hall, Jean Haynes, Mildred Townsend and Dorothy Lee.
