Marcia Chambliss is a conservative activist from Grady. She is a columnist for “The Alabama Gazette” and a member of Smart Girl Politics.

But most of all, she is an American patriot and a strong supporter of the United States Constitution.

Chambliss was the featured speaker at the Wednesday meeting of the Oliver Wiley Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. The Oliver Wiley Chapter will join all DAR organizations in celebrating “Constitution Week” Sept. 17-23. Chambliss was invited to speak as a way of getting the celebration off to a meaningful start.

Chambliss told the DAR members that she has long admired and respected the DAR for its role in preserving the nation’s history.

“I am passionate about educating others as to what is going on in our nation,” she said. “Our Constitution is the greatest in the world but I fear that we are treading on dangerous waters.”

Chambliss said there are those, elected official among them, who challenge the Constitution.

“When I was in school, I studied the United States Constitution and I believe in it,” she said. “I believed that our elected officials had read our Constitution and believed in it, too.”

Chambliss said there are those who don’t believe in the United States Constitution as the law of the land and that’s a scary thought. So it is important to engage, educate and empower people on all levels – local, state and national – to demand a government that is “of the people, by the people and for the people.”

In an effort to make sure that happens, Chambliss is a strong supporter of Smart Girl Politics, which is a non-profit organization for conservative women activists. SGP is dedicated to educating and training activists and candidates.

Chambliss said Smart Girl Politics is dedicated to engaging conservative women to take a stand on issues important to them.

“Government is a right granted by our Creator, not by the state,” she said. “We must reintroduce the Constitution to America. We must preserve the past and march toward the future.”

She told the DAR members that they are valuable assets in preserving America’s history and in the march toward the future.

“You are valuable assets because you are patriots and descendants of great Americans,” she said.

The DAR organizations are important tools in the resurgence of interest in the founding of the United States Constitution and Chambliss said she applauds the DAR members for their efforts.
