An elementary school student was transported to Troy Regional Medical Center after being struck by a vehicle after school on Friday.

The student, an 8-year-old third-grader, was crossing Gibbs Street when he was hit struck by a 1998 Honda Civic driven by Kateria L. Guice, according Sgt. Benny Scarbrough of the Troy Police. The student was hit by the side view mirror. He was transported to TRMC, where he was treated for a sprained ankle and non-life threatening injuries. Guice was issued a citation for driving while revoked, and her vehicle was towed from the scene.
