Jerry L. Snider

Mr. Jerry L. Snider age 79 of Troy, passed away Friday, August 19, 2011 at his home.

The Family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 10:00 am from the Park Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverends Danny Arnold and Steve Rascoe officiating. Private family graveside will follow.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Amy Amanda Snider, mother Verrie Eiland Snider, his father George Luther Snider, a nephew Nick Locklar, and a niece Kim Shirley.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Allene H. Snider, son and daughter-in-law Brit Jerry and Regina Snider of Dothan, Grandson Shane Snider of Enterprise, Sisters and Brothers-in-law Faye and Rex Locklar of Henderson, Hazel Gray of St. Petersburg,  Betty and Ralph Shirley of Goodhope, several in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Snider was born July 10, 1932 in Pike County to the late Luther and Verrie Snider. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict spending 2 years in Korea. Upon returning home he was employed by2 Southeast Alabama Electric coop for 38 years.

Active pallbearers will be Shane Snider, Kevin Shirley, Jared Jenks, Jeff Harrison, Kent Anderson and John Clark.

Honorary Pallbearers are members of the Seekers Sunday School Class, 81 Supper Club, and McDonalds afternoon coffee group.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Park Memorial United Methodist Church bus fund, or the Pike County Heart Fund.
