C.W. McClure

C.W. McClure was born on April 06, 1942, in Troy. He was he fourth of six children born to the union of the late U.L. and Ella V. Boswell McCLure.

After receiving an education in the Troy City School System, he relocated to Chicago, Illinois in 1961. He later met and married the late Mary Ruth Scott McClure and to this union a son was born. C.W. worked at the American Industrial Service in Chicago, Illinois, prior to his retirement.

C.W. was a sincere, generous, good-hearted person who had a quiet demeanor and a flare for life. He was family oriented and enjoyed coming home to Alabama for family reunions, going to church, and spending time with family. He shared the last few months of his life with family in Alabama and Florida, making precious memories and treasured moments. He professed on many occasions that, “I’ve had a good life, I loved my life, and I love my family.”

On Tuesday, August 16, 2011, C.W. was quietly summoned to his eternal home. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. He will live in each of our hearts.

C.W. was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Jean McCray, and a brother, Jonas McClure.

C. W. leaves to cherish fond memories two sons: Mark and Charles Scott of Chicago, Illinois; three loving sisters: Ossie Stewart, Cincinnati, Ohio, Lillian (Robert) Wilson, Troy, Alabama, Ozella (Bobby) Townsend, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; three brothers: Hubert Shipman, Jimmy and Timmy McClure, six sister-in-laws: Frankie (James) Smith, Santa Anna, California, Bertha Dorsey, Greenville, Michigan, Virgie (David) Boyd, Arlington, Tennessee, Cora (Robert) Ransom, Marks, Mississippi, Louise (Robert) Smith, Memphis, Tennessee, Doris (Michael) Humphrey, Chicago, Illinois; three brother-in-laws: Howard McCray, San Francisco, California, Frank (Karen) Ransom, Jr. Jackson, Mississippi, Andrew Ransom, Memphis, Tennessee, nine grandchildren: Tiana, Marquita, Shay, Christina, Miracle, Marco, Palacia, Brooklyn, and Helena; three aunts: Georgia Mae Pennington, Troy, Alabama, Barbara Reed, Birmingham, Alabama and Mae Charles Porter, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; one uncle: Obie (Mary) Thomas, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; one great-aunt: Elna Ruth Kelly, Troy, Alabama, special friends: Jesse Palmer and Frank Jordan, Chicago, Illinois, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services for C. W. McClure were held August 22, 2011 at 11 a.m. with interment at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The service was officiated by Rev. Johnnie Henderson.
