The deadline for the Humane Society of Pike County’s Annual Pet Photo Contest has been extended a week to Aug. 22 at the request of pet owners.

“We have had a lot of requests to extend the deadline because of the busyness of the final days of summer and preparing for the open of school, said Lisa Howard, event chair.

“We want to give all pet owners an opportunity to get their pet photos in so we are extending the deadline from Aug. 15 to the 22.

To submit an entry, send an 8×10 color or black and white photo along with a name, address, phone number, pet’s name and information about the pet and the $10 entry fee to Pet Photo Contest, P.O Box 296, Troy, AL 36081.

Entries may also be dropped of at the Charles Henderson Child Health Center in Troy, the Little Framery, Guynn’s Tax and Bookkeeping Service and Troy Antiques.

“You may enter as many times as you want but each entry must include the necessary information and the $10 entry fee,” Howard said.

The winner of the Pet Photo Contest will be featured on the cover of the Human Society of Pike County’s 2012 Pet Photo Calendar.

Cats have been the three previous winners.

“What are you dog and other pet owners going to do about that?” Howard said.
