A new Little Miss has been crowned and will represent the City of Brundidge as its youngest ambassador at area events and activities throughout her reign.

Seven-year-old Mattie May Brooks of Banks was crowned Little Miss Brundidge Monday and her first official duty as the city’s Little Miss will be a meeting with the members of the Brundidge Business Association.

“Mattie May will have an opportunity to meet with our business owners and learn more about the business community that she will represent,” said Jane Thrash, coordinator of the Brundidge Business Association’s annual Miss Brundidge pageant. “She will represent our community in a variety of ways and ribbon cuttings for new businesses will be one of the ways. She will also represent Brundidge in parade, festivals and other special events throughout the year, along with Miss Brundidge, Mary McNally.”

Thrash congratulated Little Miss Brundidge and expressed confidence that she will be an outstanding ambassador for the town.

Mattie May is a second-grader at Banks Primary School and an honor student.

“I always try to make good grades and I like math best of all,” Mattie May said. “When I’m at home, I like to ride my four-wheeler and play with my dog, Mexcie. My favorite football team is Alabama and my favorite thing to eat is chicken.”

It was suggested to Mattie May that she might want to consider peanut butter as a different choice in favorite foods because Brundidge is the home of the annual Peanut Butter Festival.

“Well, my dog’s name is Peanut,” she said with a smile.

Trash said a Little Miss with a dog named Peanut will be just the right one for Brundidge.
