The Pike County chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will be holding its annual banquet at the Pike County Cattlemen’s Association building on August 18.

Tickets for the event are $45 for an individual, $75 for a couple, $250 for a sponsor member, $500 for a sponsor table, and $1000 for a shooters table.

With the purchase of a sponsor member or sponsor table ticket, one will receive one year sponsor membership into the NWTF along with the sponsor membership’s gift package.

A sponsor table will also receive five individual memberships.

A shooters table ticket comes with a sponsor membership and nine individual memberships along with a guarantee of one of several guns to be raffled away.

15-20 guns will be raffled away in total at the event.

Darren Jordan, vice president of the Pike County NWTF chapter says this will be a great way for new and old member to come together and help enjoy and preserve wildlife in the area.

“This is a good event for hunters to socialize, tell stories, and learn new things,” he said.

Jordan also said a state seed biologist will be on hand to mingle and answer questions.

“We wanted to do something a little different this year,” said Jordan. “The gun raffle, Seed Program, and guest biologist are all ways for the Federation to make the banquet special and different.”

One of the perks of a membership at this year’s event will be discount on seed throughout the year. Through the Seed Program member will be able to take advantage of vastly reduced prices on wheat, corn, soy beans, and milo.

In the fall, members can purchase 50 pound bags of wheat at a 75-85% discount. Corn, soy beans, and milo can be purchased in the spring  with a five bag limit also at a reduced rate.

“The Seed Program is a way for the Federation to give back to the members,” Jordan said.

This year’s event, which is normally held in February, was pushed back to a work-related accident involving then chapter president Elmer Gene Fleming. It is unclear at this time if Fleming will attend the event.

Tickets for the banquet can be purchased at several locations across Pike County. Troy Sports Shop, Troy Discount Tire, and Goshen Farmer’s Co-op all have tickets available and can be contacted for more information regarding the event.

Hooks Bar-B-Q will cater the banquet. Doors open a 6 p.m. and dinner is set for 7.
