Mr. and Mrs. Larry Strickland of Montevallo and Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Fredere of Mobile are proud to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Kristin Elizabeth Strickland, to Martin Richard “Rick” Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Smith of Elba.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Strickland of Phenix City and the late Mr. and Mrs. McClements Stokes of Mobile.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Mrs. Margie Smith and the late Mr. Martin “Buren” Smith of Elba and the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Perdue of Oklahoma City, OK.

Kristin is a 2003 graduate of Jackson High School and a 2007 graduate of Troy University where she studied Broadcast Journalism and Public Relations and received her Master of Business Administration degree in 2009. She is employed with the Montgomery Country Club in Montgomery.

Rick is a 2003 graduate of Elba High School and a 2008 graduate of Troy University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He is employed with the Troy Police Department in Troy.

The wedding is planned for May 2012 in Columbiana.
