Pike County’s Economic Development Center (EDC) President Marsha Gaylard said many interested “potential” applicants have been misinformed as to how to apply for the jobs affiliated with Golden Boy Foods Ltd.’s new Troy facility.

“There have been so many people calling, wanting to know how to apply,” Gaylard said. “The way it stands right now is Alabama Industrial Development Training (AIDT) is going to do the advertising for the jobs, take all the applications, do all of the screening and pre-training. But, what we’re waiting on right now is for Golden Boy Foods to give us specific information so AIDT can actually write the ad.”

Gaylard said, as of now, there is no “real place” to apply and interested applicants need to “be patient.”

“We wanted people to know that,” Gaylard said. “There’s going to be an online website that they can go to, but it will probably be up either by Friday or next Monday.”

Gaylard said the website where you can apply will be linked to the EDC website —www.pike-edc.org.

The AIDT is a state job-training program and, according to Gaylard, Golden Boy Foods, Ltd., is using them to take applications.

“It’s kind of a one-stop shop for applying and being trained for a job,” Gaylard said. “Later on, the career center here will probably take applications and forward those on to AIDT as well, if people don’t have access to a computer and just need to do an application by hand.”

Official with Golden Boy Foods said they expect to employ up to130 people when the peanut butter manufacturing plant is fully operational.
