A rising senior at Charles Henderson High School lost his life in a car accident was killed late Tuesday night in Montgomery County.

Ronnell Moore, 17, killed in a car wreck around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night just outside of Ramer on Montgomery County Road 1, according to CHHS head football coach Hugh Fountain.

Moore played for Fountain as a starting offensive and defensive lineman for two years.

”It’s a tragic loss,” Fountain said. “I look at Ronnell as one of our team leaders. He had worked himself to the forefront as a leader on our team. He was an integral part of our team.”

“He was a great guy,” raising senior Skylar Sexton said Wednesday afternoon. “He worked hard on everything he did – football is what he loved.

“We were like brothers, we were really close. We always played on the same side of the line and have always been roommates at (football) camps. This has been a pretty tough day for not just me but for everyone on the team.”

Both Moore and Sexton shared the offensive and defensive lines for the Trojans over the past two seasons.

Sexton said he was informed of the tragedy by phone around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning.

“The last time I talked to him was (Tuesday night) at work outs,” he said.

“He was in a good mood and good spirits, like always. Everyone is really shocked right now.”

According to Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Robyn Litchfield, a two-vehicle accident occurred on Montgomery County Road 1 on Tuesday night, however declined to identify the victim, citing that accurate identification had not been made.

“The thing I am going to miss the most about Ronnell was his enthusiasm for working to become a better person, a better man in everything he did,” Fountain said.

“This accident happened on such a sudden notice that it is going to be a real shocker to our community, our players and his family.”
