Murvyn Oliver

Services for Murvyn Oliver will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Rockwest Missionary Baptist Church, 9837 South U.S. Highway 29, Goshen, Alabama, with Rev. C. J. Sankey, Jr. officiating. Professional services will be provided by George F. Grubbs Funeral Home, Troy, Alabama.

Burial will follow at the Rockwest Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Goshen, Alabama, under the direction of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home, Troy.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at George F. Grubbs Funeral Home, Troy, Alabama.

Murvyn Oliver joined his heavenly family on May 21, 2011.

Murvyn was born June 22, 1935 to Lamon and Nora Oliver in Goshen, Alabama. He married Jeralean McDonald (his wife of 50 years) on July 2, 1960. He was the proud and loving father of five children and was blessed with six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was a faithful member of Rockwest Missionary Baptist Church for many years.

Murvyn was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Jeralean, his parents, Lamon and Nora Oliver, his sisters, Mildred May Tucker (Monk) and Annie Lois Johnson (Coot), and his brothers, Walter Lamon (Sonny), Dewey Jr. (Booney), and Neadom Knox (Boss) Oliver.

Murvyn leaves to cherish his loving memory: his five children, Sherita Oliver, Pamela Hopkins, Darren Oliver, Mariella Lancaster, and Lori Ann Oliver; his six grandchildren, Taurean, Robert, Michael, Daniel, Chloe and Krystal; his great-granddaughter, Mya; his niece, Nellie B. McLeod (who has been a stand-in mother for the entire family and we are forever grateful); and a host of other relatives and special friends.
