Frances Jernigan Golden

Mrs. Frances Jernigan Golden of Brundidge went home to her Lord on May 25, 2011, at Bethany House in Auburn at the age of 84.

She was born Aug. 29, 1926, to the late Joseph and Emma Jernigan. She graduated form Montevallo in 1947. She married the late Dr. C.L. (Don) Golden on Sept. 1, 1947. She taught physical education at Minor High School while her husband attended medical school. Frances spent most of her life in Brundidge, assisting with Dr. Golden’s medical practice and raising her four children.

In 1989, Don and Frances retired joyfully to their home on Lake Martin. It was here that Frances showered love upon her 15 adoring grandchildren. Frances loved studying God’s word, going to church and Sunday school, playing cards, reading, cooking, fishing, swimming, rooting for the Auburn Tigers and the Atlanta Braves, loving her children, spoiling her grandchildren, and praising God.

Frances was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers John M. Jernicgan and Joseph Jernigan, and her sister Juanita Pitts.

Frances is survived by her sister, Virgnia Sanders; her brotehrs Ralph and Eric Jernigan; her children, Dr. Anne Stafford Borman (Dave), Susan Majors (Tommy), Dr. Bill Golden (Cindy), John Golden (Terri); her grandchilldren, Ben, Dr. Fran, Rosemary and John Stafford; Peter Borman; James and Clair Majors; Jessica, Andy (Richelle), and Will Goden; Ken (Jennifer), Julie and Jennifer Golden; and Nichole and Zachary Lambertson.

Funeral services for Frances will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 27, at Salem Baptist Church in Brundidge with graveside services to follow in Lakeview Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bass Funeral Home in Alexander City and from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at Salem Baptist Church in Brundidge.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Adult Congenital Heart Association (ACHA), 6757 Greene St., Suite 335, Philadelphia, Penn., 19119-3508, Women’s HOpe Medical Clinic (www.supportwomenshope.org) or a Christian charity of your choice.
