Each year at the Pike County Cattlemen’s Association Professional Cowboy Association Rodeo on Memorial Day weekend, the Cattlemen offer something new and different for the enjoyment of the rodeo fans.

The 2011 Cattlemen’s PCA Rodeo will present Kristy Lei Harris, a rodeo trick rider whose performance will be worth the price of admission, said B.B. Palmer, publicity chair for the Cattlemen.

“Kristy Lei Harris is one of the most amazing trick riders that you’ll see,” Palmer said. “She travels with her beautiful paint horse, Jamie. Together, they present a fantastic show. Kristy is very expressive and you can tell that she loves every minute that she’s in the arena.”

Harris is a 27-year-old trick rider from Tennessee.

“Her love of horses began when she was young,” Palmer said. “She was born in Indianapolis and has lived in several different states. But she has always loved riding and being outside.”

By the time, Harris was a teenager, she was barrel racing.

“Kristy said that the first time she saw trick riding, she was mesmerized by it,” Palmer said. “The fast horses and gracefulness of the riders really caught her eye and she decided right then and there that she wanted to be a trick rider.”

Palmer said Kristy Lei Harris and Jamie will be a great addition to an already great rodeo.

“There’s not a dull moment in her act,” Palmer said. “The patriotic finale is something that fans will remember for a long time. We are excited to have a trick rider featured at our 2011 PCA Memorial Day weekend rodeo and we are especially proud to have Kristy Lei because she is the best.”

The 2011 Pike County Cattlemen’s PCA Rodeo is set for Friday and Saturday nights at Cattleman Park. Admission is $10 for ages 13 and over. Children ages 12 and under are admitted free. All tickets will be sold at the door.

Gates open at 6 p.m. with the Grand Entry at 7:30 p.m.
