Only a little over three months is all that stands between Charles Henderson and the first kickoff of the 2011 football season.

And while the team has been participating in spring drills and practice for the last couple of weeks, the Trojans got a chance to play against two neighboring teams.

As the sun set on Monday, Dothan, Andalusia and CHHS were all on the field of Veterans Memorial Stadium to take part in the 2011 Wiregrass Jamboree.

Each team played one another for one half of football, with the Trojans taking on the Tigers to get things underway.

CHHS would fall behind 7-0 after the first 10 minutes and then 21-0 by the time it was over with.

In his first real action against another opponent, Joe Bradley started off strong, completing his first four passes for 27 yards. However, he would strong the rest of the quarter, completing just one of eight passes for 10 yards and threw an interception.

“I felt pretty good to begin with,” he said. “There were a couple small mistakes towards the end.

“Overall, I felt it was a good experience for me to be out there. It was just a matter of getting out there and getting my feet wet.”

Getting the experience needed for the upcoming season is exactly what head coach Hugh Fountain wanted out of the spring games.

“We are looking to see who can actually come out and play next year based on how hard they play, how hard they get after it – things of that nature,” he said.

“We are looking for who is going to give it their all.”
