A Chamber of Commerce is the front door to the communities it serves.

With that in mind, the Pike County Chamber of Commerce will have a visible presence in Brundidge with the opening of a satellite office in the Johnston Mill on Church Street.

The Chamber will host a ribbon cutting and open house at the Johnson Mill at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday and the public is invited.

Kathy Sauer, Chamber president, said a part of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce’s strategic plan is to have a downtown presence in Pike County.

“The Chamber hopes to enhance the downtown areas by having a presence there and to become a stronger partner with the communities that we serve,” she said.

The Pike County Chamber of Commerce satellite office at the Johnston Mill in Brundidge will be open from 10 a.m. until noon and from 1:30 until 4 p.m. on Wednesdays.

“We will be at the satellite office to answer questions and provide information for businesses and for the community,” Sauer said. “It is the responsibility of the Chamber to be visual in the community in order to promote local businesses and the activities and events throughout the county.”

Sauer said hopes are that the business community, as well as local residents, will take advantage of the opportunity to visit the Chamber’s satellite office and learn more about the Chamber and to inform the Chamber staff about activities and events in the community and ways that the Chamber can be involved.

“The Chamber wants to support the business community in every way possible,” Sauer said. “Being in Brundidge each week will give us an opportunity to work closer with the local businesses as we work together for the betterment of Brundidge and all of Pike County.”

Sauer said she is excited to be in Brundidge and expressed appreciation to the Brundidge Historical Society for allowing the use of the Johnston Mill.

“It’s in a great location in the downtown area and has historic value to the community,” she said. “Having the satellite office open on Wednesdays will also provide opportunities for visitors and residents to visit the museum in progress and gain a deeper appreciation for the history of the community. We are looking forward to being in Brundidge and invite everyone to stop by and visit with us.”
